Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Jodx mobile app and website (“Jodx”, “we”, “us”) collect, why we collect it, who can see it, and how you can delete it. Jodx is developed and operated by Mandip Dhital, Nepal. If you have questions, email support@jodx.app.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Email address, and a password if you sign up with email. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile photo, as shared by Google.
Profile information
- Your full name and phone number.
- Your account type (individual or business). Businesses also give a business name and a business category.
- For individuals, the skills or items you offer (the categories you add).
- Whether you are online (accepting requests) and when you were last active. We use this to send live requests only to people who are likely to answer.
Location
- With your permission, we use your device's precise location while you use the app to find requests, providers and jobs near you. We do not collect location in the background.
- We save your last known location on your profile so that nearby requests can reach you. We update it when you open the app after you have moved more than about 500 m. Other users cannot read it.
- When you post an item or service request, we round its location to a grid of about 1 km before saving it. Your exact position is never stored with a request, and the distances other users see are approximate.
- Job vacancies posted by businesses keep the location the business chose, so applicants can see where the job is.
Content you create
- Requests you post (category, description, budget, item condition) and responses you send to others' requests, including any message and price.
- Job vacancies (for businesses), and CVs and job applications (for individuals). These can include your work experience, education, skills, certifications, languages, cover letter, expected salary and, if you choose to add it, a contact email.
- Chat messages you exchange with other users.
- Photos, if you attach any to a request.
Safety information
- People you block, reports you make about other users (reason and details), and reports others make about you.
Device and technical information
- A push notification token and your device platform (Android, iOS or web), so we can send you notifications.
- Crash reports through Firebase Crashlytics when the app crashes or hits a serious error: device model, operating system version, app version, the technical details of the error, and your user ID so we can investigate problems you report.
- Some settings are stored only on your device, for example whether alert sounds are muted and which items you have already seen.
We do not use advertising IDs, we do not show ads, and we do not use analytics or tracking SDKs for advertising.
2. How we use your information
- Matching: sending your request to providers and businesses in the right category near you, and showing you requests and job vacancies that match your skills or business.
- Connecting people: letting you and the people you deal with call or message each other.
- Notifications: telling you about new requests, responses, messages and application updates.
- Safety: preventing spam and abuse, enforcing posting limits, handling reports, and suspending accounts that break our Terms of Use.
- Running and improving the app: fixing crashes and errors and keeping the service secure and reliable.
3. What other users can see
- Matched providers see your request (its category, description, budget and approximate distance) and your name.
- When you respond to a request, or when someone responds to yours, the two of you can see each other's name, profile photo and phone number, so you can call or message each other. This is a core part of how Jodx works.
- When you apply for a job, the business sees your CV, cover letter, expected salary, phone number and, if you added one, your contact email.
- Business names and categories are visible to signed-in users.
- Messages can be read only by the sender and the recipient (and by us if a conversation is reported, to deal with the report).
If you block someone, they can no longer see your profile or phone number, contact you, or receive your requests.
4. Service providers we share data with
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the companies that run parts of the service for us, and only so they can provide that service:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in, file storage and real-time updates. Almost all of the data above is stored here. |
| Google Firebase | Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics). |
| “Continue with Google” sign-in, if you use it. | |
| Cloudflare | Hosting this website. |
These providers may process data on servers outside Nepal. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if it is needed to protect someone's safety.
5. How long we keep information
- Your account and profile: until you delete your account.
- Requests, vacancies and the responses, applications and photos linked to them: deleted automatically 60 days after the request or vacancy closes or expires.
- Chat messages: deleted automatically after 60 days.
- Notifications: deleted 30 days after you read them, and after 90 days in any case.
- Push tokens: deleted when you sign out, or after 90 days without use.
- Activity logs (a record of account and request changes kept for security): 30 days.
- Crash reports: kept by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
6. Your choices and rights
- Edit your name, phone number and business name in your account settings (Profile → Settings → Account, or Business → Account settings for businesses).
- Location and notifications: you can turn off either permission in your phone's settings. Jodx needs location to match you with nearby requests.
- Go offline with the Online switch to stop receiving live requests.
- Block or report anyone from a chat, a request or their contact card.
- Delete your account in the app, or follow the steps on our account deletion page. This permanently deletes your profile and content.
- To ask for a copy of your data or for a correction, email support@jodx.app from the email address on your account.
7. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database access rules make sure each user can read only what they are allowed to see. For example, your saved location can't be read by other users at all. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and fix problems quickly.
8. Children
Jodx is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child is using Jodx, contact us and we will delete the account.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will change the date at the top, and for important changes we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
10. Contact
Email support@jodx.app with any question or request about your privacy.
